Thats probably good. Anal is very uncomfortable and scary. If you dont have enough lube it can hurt like hell and even with enough, it just doesnt feel right.
But can I just ask this question? Have you attempted to try it? I just want to offer that you may be trying the wrong position. It really hurts to do it anally if she is laying on her back. I recommend "doggy style".

Dude, stop watching so much porn! If your wife has told you she doesn't want to do it, let it go. There are so many other ways you can enjoy each other that it's just plain stupid to fixate on the one thing that she doesn't want to do! How would you feel if she saw some girl peeing on a guy and it really turned her on so she started begging daily for you to let her do it? Just because she wants to do it doesn't mean you owe it to her or that it's a good idea.

Ok flaked rice, here is what you do but I will tell you now that this does take time!
When your making love to her, have her on top of you in the missionary position. Tell her about this ahead of time so she isn't surprised. Have one finger well lubricated (Vaseline works well) and slowly, very slowly let your finger go into her anally while making love. If she enjoys it, you can do this the next couple of times you two make love. After you have done this several times, try it with two fingers! Again, very slowly and if it causes her any discomort, don't do it anymore! If she is enjoying two of your fingers in her regularly, you are ready to try it!
Before you do though, you have to get her to relax and position her on the bed with a couple of pillows underneath her stomach to push her butt in to a better position to receive you.
Start off again by using your two fingers (always insert them one at a time) and use lots of lubrication! It's probably time to toss in the towel. My wife has told me NO! for the entire time we've been married. One night, after I suggested it again, she said she'd let me "do it" if I agreed to let her insert one of her toys in my rear area. Needless to say, I declined. Just spend your time for a while pleasuring her, the time will come when she wants to repay you and experiment with new things. When this comes, its a great time to bring it up. Women change significantly as they age. At 30 mine was much more wild than at 22.
