This is the difference. Frogs have smooth skin and need to be near water at all times. Toads on the other hand have rough buppy skin and don`t need to be near water except for mateing and breeding. Also frogs back legs are made for hopping and swimming and toads back legs are made for walking and crawling. Also most frogs have a sleack body and most toads have short stummpy bodys. One last thing is toads have diffence mechanisms for preditors (Their warts have poisn in them that tasts bitter but is harmless otherwise) were as frogs don`t.

"There's very little difference between a toad and a frog--they're both in the same family of amphibians. Generally speaking, toads have shorter legs, bigger bodies, and rougher, drier skin. Frogs, on the other hand, have smooth, moist skin, long legs, and smaller, skinnier bodies. Frogs are built for jumping, while toads are built for hopping. "
