My favorite is the HP DVD Writer because it incorporates Lightscribe technology, which means when your done buring a CD or DVD, you flip it over and it will actually etch a label onto the CD using the laser in the DVD-drive. Cool technology. Check it out here:

You can get a great internal DVD burner these days for a lot less than $100 bucks, $35 to 40 dollars is not uncommon. Try Lite-On burners, they are very good. :)

Pioneer makes very good and reliable DVD burners. I've been using a Pioneer for more than 2 years and never had any problems.

plextor makes the best but you can get them for around 79 internal...
