I originally spoke spanish, but school whitewashed me into only speaking English, so when i speak english im pretty much speaking in my second language

Well, that all depends.
I think the younger people us abbreviations more than what I am used to. It can make it hard to read. Also I think alot of posters are very young, like 8-12.....so spelling may be another reason it can be hard to read posts.
Then you have southern slang and Northen slang.........even brittish slang that can be confussing.
However I think most try to type to the best of their knowlege.

Its full of people that haven't figured out that there is a free spell check right above the box they type in. It doesn't speak well for the U.S. educational system, does it?
