I am a guy, too, but this is such a doctor thing... look at all these other women who have tried to help you with safer passage through what appears to be a very uncomfortable thing... when you have had a chance to try some of their suggestions, please do remember your doctor may have some really cool answers, as well. If not your doctor, then consult with a close friend you trust the most, either for answers, or for referral to someone who can nail this one for you. I am sending this to you more because I want you to know there is someone in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A. who really gives a damn about this issue you are experiencing, and who hopes that by this evening, you will have either come by or acquired an answer that will really work for you. You shouldn't have to endure another hour of this kind of chaffing and discomfort. God Bless You, don't give up, keep looking for the right answer, and Good Luck to you! - Chris in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A. (I am 63 years old.)

Because I'm married and know of someone that had this happen to them, I may be able to answer. If you read the instructions, as long as you change the tampon regularly, than you don't have to worry about TSS. It's people that put them in and don't change them out regularly and don't clean right. I'd say, use the tampons during the day and pads only at night when you go to bed. That way you are not walking around with it on and chaffing yourself or whatever might be going on. Hope this helps, I'm a guy, so I'm not the best one to hear from.

They make a rubber cup called INSTEAD, I know they sell it in Target, I am not sure where else. You insert it, and when it fills up you take it out and empty it, they are reusable, or disposable which ever you prefer. I know it sounds pretty gross, but there is no chance of TSS. Even with tampons the risk is so small that is shouldnt be a huge worry for you. You have to leave them in for over 8 hours before there is even the slightest chance for infection. If by chance you do get TSS, they have a cure now. Hope this helps

If you really cant wear pads, then make sure that u change ur tampon at least every6 or 7 hours. If u sleep 4 more than 7 hours, then set your alarm clock for about 5 hoyrs after u go 2 sleep, so that u can change ur t-pon. if u use a tampon 4 more than 8 hrs. at night, then u could get tss.

Look into unbleached products like Glad Rags (gross name, I know). You can learn about them here: http://www.averybabycare.com/sanitary.htm#grpads. By using unbleached/natural products, you may resolve your sensitivity issue AND minimize your exposure to the dioxins (which are linked to several health concerns) produced as a result of the bleaching process (and no, it's not an urban legend that many feminine hygeine products contain trace amounts of dioxin). Also - your risk of TSS from tampons is minimal at best, provided you change frequently. You can also look into menstrual cups like The Keeper (also on that page referenced above), but know that the FDA has found that a "plausible risk" exists for Endometriosis in those who use menstrual cups. Hope that helps.

First off I have used tampons for 15 years and have never had TSS. TSS is a very rare condition and only half of those were caused by tampons. If you change your tampon regularly you probably have nothing to worry about!

I suffered something similar. But fearing TSS as well, I began to alternate with pads just at night. If the irritation is soo bad you can't even do six or eight hours at night, it's best to seek medical advice from a dr.

Have you tried non-deoderant pads...I'm vey sensitive as well and anything with perfume irritates me. Another suggestion would be to only wear cotton underwear with the pads. Anything nylon would suffocate the pad potentially attributing to your discomfort. Hope that helps and good luck!

How about organic cotton pads?
Also, have a look at the website below. The best thing to do though is go and see a gynaecologist - they will have dealt with similar cases!
