My friend was addicted to pain killers for a long time, sought help and has been clean for about 2 months now. Lately, I have noticed that she has a lot of undirected anger and I was wondering if this is a sign that she might relapse. If so, how can I help?

It very well could be a sign. She used to take these drugs to help her with the pain and now that she isnt there could be other issues that arise. Such as anger at herself for having done the drugs in the first place, or for wanting them again now. Anger at being forced into rehab,or at the pain that she may still have to deal with. The anger is normal, however a lot of people have no focus or control and often mis direct it and end up doing the drugs again. Stand by your friend, be there for her, Try to be observant of her actions and allow her to let off some steam in other ways. Help her to find other ways to vent.

Even after two months she still might be struggling with addiction. When I quit cigarettes I was pissed off all the time. And I cried alot.

Chances are great, only your friend can help themselves. I tried for years to help my ex husband, thinking it would change. Be supportive but dont be disappointed if things go the wrong way.
