I think of Kansas, but a few things to keep in mind:
Anywhere east of the Rocky Mountains (outside of New England) is vulnerable to tornado. Here in Denver, east of Interstate 25 is vulnerable to tornadoes(it is after all, the Great Plains and right next to Kansas). West of 25, it is rare to get tornadoes.
Florida has the highest number of tornadoes per square area of any state. Much of that is due to tornadoes associated with hurricanes, but even discounting those, Florida still gets more tornadoes per sq. mile- because of frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Almost all of the Florida tornadoes are F0 or F1, though.
Every state has had tornadoes- even Alaska and Hawaii.

I think of our hurricanes in FL. If your house never been shredded by hurricane, you just won't understand.
