It usually takes a few weeks for an injury like this to get better. Avoid sitting down for long periods of time. When seated, sit on hard surfaces and alternate sitting on each side of the buttocks. Also, lean forward and direct your weight away from the tailbone.
Apply ice to the tailbone area for 15-20 minutes, 4 times a day, for the first few days after the injury. You can also use Advil for the pain. If Advil doesn't work for the pain, then you will have to contact your doctor to get something stronger. You can purchase a doughnut cushion or pillow to sit on. Make sure you eat foods high in fiber to avoid constipation while the area is healing.

I did the same thing in December, two days before I went overseas. It was more painful sitting down for the plane ride than walking around. I had to take it easy but I walked miles everyday. It just hurt when I jolted it, like running and stepping off the curb onto the road. It took about two weeks to feel normal again but my recovery was hampered by the fact that I banged it getting into a car. I took Ibuprofen and that killed most of the pain I had.

It depends on whether you had suffered a fracture or not. Also depends on how much trauma you had, i.e. Did you fall and land on a hard concrete surface, or did you fall on a softer surface like carpet, etc.?
Injuries to the coccyx are tricky, and I would see a doctor. Meantime, I would avoid sitting for long periods of time, or doing anything to aggravate the pain.

It takes a long time! I done that as well and you just have to give it alot of time. Do not be picking up heavy things and such. Also, soaking in a hot tub really helps if you can stand to sit. Take a tube to sit on as you travel and make stops often to relieve pressure! Standing is alot more comfortable than sitting!! Don't even try to run yet. Advil is about as good as you can get without a perscription.

Depends on if you fractured it or not. If it's just a bruise, you should be fine. However, a bruise doesn't normally interfere with walking/running etc. (just sitting). I'd say you are looking at least a month to recover.
Your traveling is going to be.....uncomfortable. Best thing to do is see your doctor, explain the situation and ask for something a little stronger than aspirin.

I fell on my tail bone 11 years ago and I still have problems on hard seats or if I am sitting for a long time. I would suggest taking a donut to sit on if you will be sitting for a while in a car or plane. I really don't have any problems walking, though.

Put ice on it now. Do some low back stretches. Do lots of stretching. Knee squats and kegel exercises. You might go see a massage therapist or chiropractor. It may hurt for as long as six weeks. Long car rides will agravate it. Ibprophen is the best for muscle aches.
