seems if it was enjoyable it would be a hobby and we'd do it for free.

You do have a point. The better the job, the less you have to pay someone to do it. For example, many people choose to be married even though there is no direct pay for it. A lot of people enter beauty contests because it's an ego boost, even though they pay very little. Musicians get paid very little because it is so much fun to sing or play music for a living.

But most people are not independently wealthy, so most of us have to do something not totally fun in order to earn money for food and shelter. Even a great artist like Michelangelo had to "work" for a living. In his diary, he complained bitterly about having to paint the Sistine Chapel for money when he'd rather be doing something else.

So to answer your question... Yes, there are things we'd gladly do for free. In general, the funner the work, the less it pays. But the great majority of people have to do something to keep ourselves and our family fed, and that takes effort and energy.

So think of what you like to do and try to be good at it. Maybe you'll be able to earn a living by it with relatively little conscious effort on your part.

Who told you work is wonderful?
I will tell you , there are very few people in this world that actually enjoy their work. Most other people in the world work because they have to, to be able to provide for their family.
More power to those who are making a living by doing something they love.
I was preparing myself at an academy to become a federal agent 60-70 thousand a year. Everyone in my family kept telling me what a great job, a job many would want but only a few have a chance at. Guess what, after 2 times to the academy (because of injuries) I figured that the $ was not that important to me, so I left. Now I'm looking for a job and have not had one since I left early April, but I'm much less stressed and happier with myself.
Money isn't happiness.

It all depends on your perspective! I LOVE what I do... But I also have to pay the bills. It all depends on how much you like your job. That being said YES I love what I do but there are still days when I really don't want to go..lol. That to me is what makes it work as opposed to a hobby...

They have to pay for your services rendered you are giving them your time and skills etc.... everyone do not like their work no matter what it is not to many people like to get up at 5, 6 am in the morning everyday sometimes earlier so those who think that their work is wonderful like what they are doing but still have the right to get paid for their services to survive if we all worked for free then no one would get paid bills will pile up cars repo's people would lose housing etc it makes since to work for pay don't you think?

If I had a job so great that I would do it for free....I would if I could. If I had the money to pay everyone else's salaries that I send my bills to, I would not work for money. I hate money. It's ruined the world.
