I am asking this question because I just read the struggle between the two bands in 1992.Atleast between the two lead singers which came to the situation of a physical fight at the MTV show where both the bands were performing after one another.

I love both bands, but I would have to go with Nirvana and Kurt Cobain. Guns & Roses was never the same after Appetite, Patience, and Use Your Illusion. And Axl Rose destroyed the band. His diva attitude ran off all of the other quality talent in the group. Niravana and Kurt Cobain were and are (yes even after death) more prolific and maintain their quality.

Gun's & roses is one of the best rock bands ever. They jumped the night train, and defined the rock erra of the eighties. Nirvana, had some of the best songs wrote.... lead by a verry creative, yet disturbed front man. I don't think the two are in the same musical catagory because on one hand you have great 80's rock, on the other hand you have a new breed of 90's grundge rock. Both are great in their own rights, however, Guns and f'in' roses didn't generate the album sales the late curt cobain still puts out today. Think about it, do you really here GNR much any more? Turn your local Rock station on, and with in the hour you'll still hear one of the many great NIrvana songs.. why? i guess it just sticks better than the eighties rock ballods...curt vs axle? most defintley Curt Cobain. If for no other reason, he can't try to make a come back and fail misserably... unlike the other before mentiond...

Are you kidding me? Nirvana by a landslide. They completely introduced a new style into mainstream music. Through their popularity, other grunge bands became more recognized. Kurt Cobain was a far better songwriter, musician, and singer. Axl Rose was great in his own respect, but Guns N Roses are no where near the legends that Nirvana became during their short time together.

Guns N Roses was a better band. These are hard to compare, partly because Nirvana's legacy expanded further than music into lifestyle, while Guns N Roses was just great rock music overall.

Guns n' Roses for the band. I just think they rocked more.
But, Kurt Cobain was definitely a more talented artist.
It's a shame he chose to leave us...

it is somehow unfair to call cobain a rockstar.i mean just look at him "god he is a poet" those lyrics spelt genius.his voice was dirty.novoselic had that aura about him and it cannot get any better than grohl in the drums.but gnr had a strange thing about them putting it simoly they didnt give a **** about you and me and that is pretty rocknroll.so gnr.gnr.gnr
music is above the band feud
rocknroll is even above music
