What the heck? Ride the bus? Helloo people... I want to drive, just scared to take that first step. I'm looking for advice, not "ride the bus".

Girl I'm in the same boat as you, but you have to take the first step of signing up for class. I'm currently on my second class and let me tell you I can't turn on to a street, i have no idea whats going on around me lol I also drive on the wrong side of the street, and forget about parking. That's why you have an experienced person sitting next to you and if he/she feels something wrong they will stop the car or steer you as to what to do next. Before I started my first class I was having panic attacks because I was stressing out so bad, but the teacher explained to me everything slowly told me what is where and how to use what. You just need to give yourself a push and trust me if I can get there so can you. Hope this helps and good luck on your driving.

As I see it, there are a few options:
1. Do a lot of driiving so that you are more comfortable behind the wheel. Driving at some point should become an almost automatic actiivity. If you have to THINK about driving, you will not be a good driver.
2. Some people just drive on side roads--not on highways, so that they never have to drive fast. Personally, I think driving on highways is easier, but to each his or her own.
3. If you are really scared and if practice doesn't make you better, maybe you shouldn't drive. Move to a big city like NYC where public transportation makes driving unnecessary for some people.
Good luck.

First of all, don't drive until you're comfortable doing it--you could cause an accident and hurt someone. There's nothing wrong with being a non-driver. Second, if you absolutely need to drive: Practice, practice, practice. Even if you have to go to an empty parking lot on a weekend, get as much practice as you can alone so you can make mistakes and figure out how to correct them. And third: Take advice from other good drivers--find out what you're doing wrong and try to correct it.

Dont! There are enough idiots on the road, including the idiot who drives 100mph. It does not make you cool to speed. You put yourself and everyone else on the road at risk! How would you like to live the rest of your life in prison for manslaugher?? People are soooo dumb. Just practice in empty parking lots until you are comfortable. Then go out on to roads. DONT rush into it, take your time!

Everyone is always a little nervous at first. Try practicing on back roads and gradually working your way up to what feels comfortable. There is no rush, and no don't go 100mph, that's just plain stupid and will eventually get you in a wreck.

Always be a defensive driver, not everyone is looking out for you.

Take a deep breath, close your eyes and push the gas pedal. Seems to work for Asian drivers here in the USofA. Just kidding:) Relax, drive defensive, making sure to watch your surroundings. Accelerate smoothly, and always give yourself plenty of braking distance. USE YOUR MIRRORS!

Play the old video game "Crazy Taxi" if you have a PS2, XBox or a GameCube. You'll realize you could be MUCH worse. Trust me on this, there's some pretty scary crashes in that game if you know how to drive really good!

Tell that person not to drive until they gain some confidence. No need to drive if youre scared and putting yourself in danger,

The automobile is designed to be as easy to drive as watching TV. If you have a fear it is in you. Go sit in your car and pretend you are driving. Don't go anywhere. Listen to the radio, imagine you are driving in the city, across country. Keep pretending until you feel comfortable.

Get a chauffeur, take the bus, walk. Don't get on the road with the idiot who stated he/she drives over 100 mph.
