IF you believe being gay is in large part a choice then conversely you must accept that being straight is also a choice. That is only logical. (And some people do choose to be straight rather than come out and be gay -so there's your proof. )

So, for all of you that believe it is a choice, I say this...
Then you must have chosen to be straight which means that at some juncture in your mind you inherently know that you could,
not that you would, but that you COULD choose to be gay.

I find people like you so fascinating, really interesting and its all so extremely telling of your physchology- you know they say the ones who protest the most , are the ones who are most threatened.

My point is shut up , sit down and let people love, f*ck, bl*w or share their life with whomever they want...as long as they are over 18. How does it affect you anyways? I just don't get it.

to rc_Longhorn: You are a sheep/follower.
Do you believe everything that is told to you or that you read? Challenge yourself a bit more, please!

And try to be a human being who FORMULATES (not follows) his own thoughts & opinions based on using your brain and have emotions too. Otherwise you are just another sheep. You will go thru life and miss 98% of it cause. you might as well have been born a dog.

To prc85040: Spreads Aids? Honey, what part of the planet do you live on? Aids is spread by BOTH hetros and homos.

If you are trying to blame AIds on homos, then you need to research a little more because
a) Heteros have an*l sex just as often if not more than homos.
b)the first documented case of what is AIds was in the 1930's in a hetero man.
c) Homos have been around FOREVER.
The Greeks & Romans have them on urns and the y were accepted in large part as part of society. So why didnt' Aids manifest back then and just kill us all off?

You really need to turn your tv off and READ somethign besides comics. Being as ignorant as you are is very gross.

To Jack_f: You still do not understand -
1)the question is directed to those who believe being gay is a choice. If you believe that sexuality is a choice then logically that includes heteros as well. That is not apple and oranges - that is green apple vs. red apples.
2)The purpose of sex is not just for the preservation of the species- are you catholic? Not every hetero has a baby. Do you only have sex to have a baby? It's an outrageous "fact" you are presenting - why don't you jsut say the purpose of sex is for all white people to have babies - everythign else is a choice.
3)Please learn to read books of substance, travel the world and expose yourselve to human beings besides the ones in your little smlall world. In other words, bask in the joy of being a human being who uses their mind and emotions in their life.

Sorry, i didnt read your entire question, because your first paragraph made an incorrect assumption. Who says if one believes being gay is a choice, that the same theory applies to being straight? Thats the old apples and oranges argument, and i reject it flat out. Why? Because it takes opposite sex to make a baby. Two men cannot do it, nor can two women. Its called preservation of the species.

I know science now can put sperm in a turkey baster and do the same, but thats science. It has nothing to do with basic human instinct, which is what I am referring to. Homosexuality does nothing for survival of the species, and that is the difference between the two.

Again I reject your main premise.

I plan on getting my PhD in psychology and have been studying the subject on my own for a couple years. Being gay is NOT a choice... your basic biology class in high school will prove to you that it is a genetic formation (not mutation) that becomes the deciding factor of attraction. Those who think that it is a choice are in my opinion, ignorant... and those who choose to have the debate can e-mail me at any time.
regardless of whether or not it is a choice or biological alteration... I agree with your point... "shut up , sit down and let people love, f*ck, bl*w or share their life with whomever they want...as long as they are over 18. How does it affect you anyways? I just don't get it."

Well you got a point but murdering is a choice too. Everything is a choice in life. God gave us free wills so that this earth is not full of robots that are here worshiping him because that would mean nothing if we were forced to worship him. I do not agree with homosexuality but if someone wants to live their life like that then they can go right ahead. I just get some upset about people who think all Christians are totally against gay people and wanting to destroy them. We are not all out to destroy people living in sin or trying to convert everyone. If you want to be with the same sex then go for it. Just remember everything in life is a choice except for what gender you are, who your parents are, what color your skin is, etc. It think you get my point. Please stop judging all Christians because we are not all judging you. thank you.

Being gay is not a choice, but acting on it is. And it does affect me because that kind of behavior spreads disease like AIDS. Innocent people like myself may pick up this horrible plague through a blood transfusion.

Your sexuality is something you are born with...it is not chosen. Yes, some people chose to be straight rather thtn come out and be gay but that isn't what they honestly feel. So, in that case it is a choice but it is different.

It's not a choice, people aren't born gay, there is no such thing as a gay gene, and I don't choose to be straight, it's just the way I am. And, proud of it.

Ahh, the pentagon says it. Of course we know that an organization who often can't manage their primary job of national defense without serious bungling is perfectly qualified to make psychological pronouncements.
