I think human beings will always have problems. New technology may solve some of these problems and create others.

Genetic engineering may be able to solve a lot of problems in the long run but social engineering in terms of population, birth control and removing the incentives for less genetically fit people/single parents to have more children that they can support (especially in Socialist countries), are far more valuable now.
