When you see lightning start counting the seconds until you hear the thunder. 4 seconds equals 1 mile. If the lightning and thunder happen at the exact same time then you are probably dead and didn't even notice.

The lightning's already happened. The lightning travels at the speed of light, and the thunder travels at the speed of sound, so unless you are getting struck by it, you're going to see the lightning first.
