It was fromNATIONEX LOTTO SWEEPSTAKES INC. THEY SAY TO DEPOSIT IT INTO MY BANK ACCOUNT TO HELP PAY TAXES ON MY WINNINGS. iS THIS A SCAM ? IS THIS A SCAM ? THE LETTER IS FROM PETER H. MCCORMICK AND MR. JAMES OWENS AND THE CHECK IS FROM CITIBANK IN BUFFALO, NEW YORK. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I JUST CASH IT OUT RIGHT AND NOT SEND IN THE PROCESSING FEES ??? SURE WOULD STOP[ HIM WOULDN'T IT ?

Call the bank the check came from and ask them. If they won't help you, express your concerns to your bank as well. I'd be worried b/c if it's a fake check and it bounces, you'll have some problems.

Definately sounds fishy. Sure, as long as you don't have an account there, go to your local Citibank and try to cash it and see what happens. That way, if it's gonna bounce, you won't be out of pocket for any $$ and they'll have to pay the bounced check fee.

I'm sure the check's no good so trying to cash it would just be a waste of your time. Sounds like this scam is getting more clever though. Did people stop believing the emails?

The check will bounce, they're hoping that you'll send the money before this is realised leaving you out of pocket for that amount. Delete the email and throw the check in the trash, they're trying to rip you off......

It's a scam and never believe anything like it..

who the hell in this world will simply give you free money just like that???

the processing fees meaning processing your money straight to their account!

its a scam, if you did not enter any lotto how can you win. i think there are warnings posted at any bank on this kind of scam, i would talk with your local bank first.
