I loved the classic romance books where the man was dominant. Nowadays I can't find books to read because all the heroes are weinies who don't know what to do with the women in the books, (who incidentally, all have black belts in karate). There is no difference in the hero and the heroine and therefore no sparks. What happened to the days when the hero would put the heroine over his knee for her own good?

I'm curious to know which authors are your favorites. If you haven't, read Judith McNaught...all her books are like that...in fact in Whitney, My Love, the hero does in fact put the heroine over his knee. Same type of story in A Kingdom of Dreams, Something Wonderful, Until You...and her contemporary romances, Paradise, Perfect, Night Whispers...I like strong, fiesty heroines, but only if the hero is their match. And Bet Me by Jennifer Cruisie---FANTASTIC...one of my new faves. You just need to find some new authors! Nora Roberts writes some great romances, too...Blue Smoke had a great twosome.

I didn't think there were people who liked the hero abusing the heroine.Call it spanking for her own good or whatever, but a man who lifts his hand to a woman is really sick.Who gave him the right to hit her? There are plenty of ways of dealing with 'spoiled ' heroines that doesn't involve physical abuse. And most of these women aren't spoiled either. They are usually spunky and independent.Read Tracy Ann Warren's 'Husband Trap.'You can see how the hero dealt with the heroine. And how she deals with him too.

There are still some genres like that. Try Black Lace and Blue Moon.
