I think the title may have had numbers in it.
I saw the movie about 13 years ago, they showed it every year to the kids in school either in 5th or 6th grade.
The movie seemed old even then, I'm thinking it's an early 80's film.
The boy came to her in a large canister, like the kind you put waste or oil in.

It was called Konrad. Polly Holiday, Ned Beatty and Huckleberry Fox starred in it. I saw it years ago, and I just loved it.
