don't know what the heck y'all talkin' bout. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, mine didn't hurt. DUHH. But i think I wa so scared that's why. but , duh, eat LOTS of ice right afterward, it won't swell as bad and I ate a hamburger the same night I had it done. can't eat for 3 days, whatever. bull.
and i was a operator at my job, (LOTS OF TALKING ON THE PHONE) and i just ate ice the whole day. had a problem with numb mouth from the ice, not the tongue ring. But yeah, it's sore as crap for like a week. mine was like 2 weeks or more. But the actual needle going in? Nah, I swear to you I didn't feel it. After she was done, the first words outta my mouth, was "that was it?!?!" I heard you couldn't spit straight, but when i spit out the listerine, i spat fine. straight as ever. I was holdin' my friends hand real tight and even holding the piercer's knee! HAHAAAAA What a hoot! I couldn't drive for like 10 min. after though. Cuz I was all dizzy from being so scared. But i just went straight to Burger King and got the BIGGEST cup of ice they had. And, it took a while to get used to having it in there. but then, it was like a part of me, and you can't feel it no more. But, that is the honest truth. Best advice, GET ICE AFTER. LOTS OF ICE. if you don't you will hurt more. my friend told me that after she got hers done, and it worked for me.
As for the infection, well, if you are plum to stupid or just too dang lazy to take care of it, that's your own problem. I took mine VERY seriously. Who wants a TONGUE infection?? So, I kept it super extra clean and I was fine. But, if you aren't responsible enough to do that, nothing can be done. ANYONE who isn't a lazy no good nasty @$$ can prevent a infection. Puh-leeze.

It doesn't hurt while you're having it done but it does hurt a bit for about 4 days afterwards (nurofen became my new best friend) I was told to only eat things like porridge and i struggled using a fork because it felt all funny and i was also told not to smoke or drink but i went out on the lash 2 days later and had a take away too! Everybody is different - the place of the piercing (mine was really close to the end of my tongue) and how quick the swelling goes down - i went from the standard 18mm bar to a 12mm within a week and when it was completely gone, i used an 8mm bar.

Probably one of the LEAST painful piercings you can have. Al the nerve endings of the tongue are on the edge. Providing you have lots of ice lollies IMMEDIATELY after having it done, it should help with the swelling. Also, because the tongue is a muscle, it has a fibrous composition; when the tongue is squeezed in the forceps many of the muscle fibres move aside and needle tends to slip between them, this results in relatively little damage being caused. Use an antibacterial mouthwash - there is a solution you can by over the counter at a pharamcist - sorry, not sure what it's called glycerin and (something, sorry again). Was recommended by my body piercer and seemed to help with the swelling as well, and keeps it clean.

You shouldn't have it done unless you are over 18 - the body piercer is breaking the law (UK) by doing it, and if he/she is prepared to cut corners here, what other hygiene corners are they cutting. If you are over 18, make sure the piercer is registered, qualified, experienced and has a current Health and Safety Certificate.

OH MY GOD WILL EVERYONE SHUT UP!!!!!!
It DOESNT hurt at all.....and im a wimp!

My ears and nose hurt more!
The clamp doesnt hurt either (if youve got some tongs in the kitchen get them and pinch your tongue, it just feels strange)

The piecer said to me, you'll feel a bit of warmth, and i did, i was shocked it was pierced, imagine warm tea running through your tongue, not just over it but throughit.

And yeah you cant eat WHATEVER stop being such babies!!!

Stock up on ice cream NOT ice cubes....too hard and will bash against your piercing.
Also cottage cheese, philadelphia, watermelon etc, soft fruits from the fridge.

I got my tongue pierecd on easter friday, then next day at work they laid on a big cooked dinner as a treat, and there i was eating roast chicken dinner! You just have to be careful where the fork goes, and to chew on one side, i tipped my head to the side and that helped.

Just remember to wash with salt water EVERY day, twice a day NO EXCUSES!

Don't do it. It breaks the enamual on your teeth when you talk. Tongue piercing also causes you to have a speech impediment. Employeers will be very hestitant in hiring you for a job. Food particles can get into the piercing and turn into an infection. Have to use Very good hygeine when you pierce.

Not really as much as you would think. It is kinda hard to eat for the first couple days after but it only makes it hard if you are thinking about it. If you just try to eat like normal, its not as hard. (I hope that makes sense) Here's a tip. Bring some Listerine with you when you get it done and gargle with it right before and it will numb you up a little! Plus you'll have fresh breath for the piercer, lol.

yes and look after it very well. Make sure you seek professional advice. A few more complications than does it just hurt, all piercings hurt certain amount but there are risks with piercings in areas if it is not properly controlled and dealed with in a clean and proffesional way, and the means YOU!

It hurt like a son of a biatch when I got mine done. I couldn't eat for the rest of the day. But the next day I had to eat really slowly so I wouldn't catch it on my teeth because that really hurt.

Oh yeah, not only does it hurt when you get it done, but it's also a shock to your nervous system for a few seconds. You instantaneously become a drool factory. I did at least...

I have two tongue peircings. the only pain you are going to feel is the day after. It felt good considering it was my tongue that was getting peirced. you will salivate and drool too but no worres. AND you wont be able to eat for the next 5 days after the pircing. ice will be your best friend.
