If you have them hooked up properly, when you play the music at a normal lever, do they rattle? Probably blown. Also you can look real carefully at the cone and see if there are any cracks, that would definitely tell you it is blown.

Unusual crackling sound at higher volume. Or not working at all. When you say blown it can also mean that the coil of the speaker is busted. Technicians check it by hooking up their Voltmeter Tester (set in ohms or resistance) on the speaker terminal. If there is a low resistance, usually like 4 to 16 ohms, speaker coil is good. If very high resistance or 'open', then it is busted.

If you hear a lot of static, or the voices don't come out clear, then your speakers are probably blown. Try turning the bass up and the treble down, if you can hear a distinct static sound when the bass hits, then they are blown

If you can only hear high frequency sounds, your woofer must be faulty or blown already. Usually the bass parts are gone and all you hear are like chirping birds...

It should crack on the high db/volume... and usually blown speakers don't respond to their assigned frequencies... but the simplest way is to just check your physical setup for tears.
