My brother and his wife are trying to get an abortion. Where they live, it is perfectly legal. I believe people have a right to protest, but I don't believe they have a right to PHYSICALLY stop them from entering the clinic or threaten them. One protester threatened to kill both of them (physically end their lives) if they walk through the door to the clinic. Some other protesters stood in front of the door so they could not enter. They ended up going home without going into the clinic. Later that night a rock came through their window hitting the wife in the head sending her to the hospital. A note was attached to the rock claiming they were going to kill them if they have the abortion. Apparently, one of the protesters took the license plate number from their car and found out their address from that information. The protesting group is denying any involvement in this case and is threatening to sue if my brother and his wife “slander” them.

It is TOTALLY obvious to anybody who did this from the note on the rock.

Everybody has morals and I don’t believe anybody is 100% right.

My question is this: Should anybody stop you from doing something that is legal even if you believe it is morally wrong? Even to the point of hurting somebody. REMEMBER before you answer. Abortion is legal in this district. Put your personal beliefs aside and think LEGALLY.

You need to pull the planks out of your own eyes before pulling the splinters out of other peoples eyes!!!

I used to walk people into the clinic. We were trained and focused on the client. Usually the clients in our clinic were there to get birth control....the horrible things that were said to them...oh, you know, I don't have the words to describe. But, we talked to the client all the way in and stayed totally focused on her, or him. This kept us away from our own anger and the mission was accomplished. We shielded them as much as possible and I remember, at times, we had to have as many as 4 guards per client. That's OK. We're a very strong, vocal group.

It is very hypocritical and actually quite laughable to have protesters outside an abortion clinic where they believe you are murdering babies yet are threatening to kill the client!!

I agree with abortion when it is absolutely necessary. There are very many mitigating circumstances which put a mother in the most dreadful of decisions as to whether to keep her child or not. These clinics are there to ensure that the procedure is done in healthy and safe conditions. They also offer counselling which is very necessary.

I find it hard to believe though that someone can get someones address just from a car licence plate unless you have contacts within the police force and an up to date data bank.
This hate crime should most definately be reported to the police, along with any evidence they have. It needs to be investigated to your brothers satisfaction and if not, continue to campaign until it
is.
If your brother has evidence that 100% implies the protesters beyond any reasonable doubt then he should have a good case.

I wish him luck, and his wife too.

Ok... I will answer this question to the best of my legally. In His eyes (God), it is illegal to kill an unborn child that He helped create. Now do I believe "two wrongs make a right?" No. He gave us a free will. I am a christian and I had an abortion. Was it wrong? In His eyes...yes! In society's...no. I cried my eyes out knowing what I was doing because society over powered what God wanted me to do. But what I do not understand is why this couple got married in the first place if they did not want to have children. What the protesters are doing is not right at all. We are supposed to continue His work in love, not in hatred. How can someone threaten to kill when both parties are just as guilty as the other

This is so odd. They are against abortion, but would have no problem killing 2 people (and the fetus, presumably, so 3 by their own count) for walking into a building.

Clearly they shouldn't be able to physically prevent people from doing something that is legal. And assault is CLEARLY illegal. So standing in the door is one thing, but if they lay hands on people to stop them, that is assault and they can be arrested.

They couldn't sue for slander if the couple simply reports the sequence of events either.

Nobody has a right to physically keep someone from entering an abortion clinic! These people need to be locked up especially for threatening people and going to someone's home and throwing a rock.....that's harassment and assault (cause it hit someone)! Go to the police and report them!

Start by calling the police. If you are being "terrorized," most have states have laws forbidding this action. Certainly the police MUST protect their right to enter the building, and if they don't help, call the press (newspapers, television, radio), and don't stop calling until you get EVERYONE'S attention. Also, contact the National Abortion Rights Action League for advice - they can help with advice and in some cases trained escorts.

I think it's important for EVERY citizen to have opinions on morality, but when you try to force your opinions on others that is when it goes terribly wrong. The people who are not allowing them to enter the clinic should have the cops called on them, and your family should be allowed to enter. If it's legal, NOBODY should be able to stop them from doing it. As for the people who threw the rock, they should be imprisoned! Assault! God will love the aborted little baby...they should stop worrying about it. It's NOT their choice to make. I personally could NEVER have an abortion, but I am not about to tell people that my opinion is the one that's right for them. Those people who do that are IDIOTS!

These groups that are opposed to abortion are lead by people with no ethical or moral fiber.
Many are frustrated due to the fact that they are unable to convince normal people and sane Christians that abortion is wrong. And it is clear why. Christ himself as God commits abortion all the time in the form of miscarriage. And he has given us ground rules and a brain to use to determine when abortion is right. I feel sorry for their lack of understanding, but believe that they do not have a right to force their thoughtless reasoning on the rest of the world.

The reason you want us to think legally is because you want us to think like all those bastards who make or pass laws. Regardless, it is morally wrong to have an abortion even if it is legal in your district. Things happen for a reason, if your sister in law didn't have the abortion GOOD! She shouldn't, she is probably getting what she deserves now so she won't go through with it or just giving her a taste of what is to come if she does. Tell her to seek advice, there are people who want kids and can't bear them, OPTIONS, OPTIONS, OPTIONS!

what the protestors did was illegal, and your brother can file harassment charges or even assault charges if he wants to. And what the protesting group told your brother is wrong, they can be sued for harassment and inciting violence in a case like this. The protest group knew their actions could bring about violent acts from their members and did nothing to stop it. I would see a lawyer.
