Yes, they are. I have never owned one, but many people have told me they make AOK pets. They don't breed that often, from what I understand. Here's a link where you can read lots more about them before you make a decision to own one:

i use to breed them and give info about them on some websites they ok for pets they are small so they are hard to have out side of there cage. www.sugarglider.net or sugarglider.com both are good websites
