So since yesterday evening i've been having a lot of pain in my abdomen area - from about my navel down to just past my hip-bones, but not in my groin itself.

Last night it was so bad that I actually woke up several times in the night and woke up at 5am this morning. It's not cripplingly painful, but it's noticeable, and generally sharp, stabbing pains or suchlike. About an hour and a half after I got up it localised to my right side where my appendix is, and I thought it might be appendicitis, but like I said, the pain isn't killing me or anything, and I think appendicitis would be more severe. It really doesn't seem worth the trip into the city to go to the emergency department!

Last night I found it most painful to lay on either of my sides. Standing up still seems to be least painful.

The pain is more specific in my right side, but I am still having pain all across my lower tummy, kinda like bad gas, but I’d think if it were just gas it would have gone by now?

Yesterday I took some ibuprofen but they didn’t help much. Do I need to go to the ED (it’s gone 7 in the evening here in Wales, UK), or can I wait until Monday (it’s Friday now) when my doctors office is open? What is it likely to be? Someone told me that pregnancy can cause stabbing pains, and although I haven’t had sex for a few months, I’m a total chunk so there is a chance I could be pregnant from my last boyfriend and not have noticed, especially since my periods are very irregular. Although we always took precautions nothing is 100%, right?

I want to go out partying with some friends tomorrow night, and I could probably last the night with the current pain level, but I’d rather not! Is there any way to find out what’s wrong at home, and what needs to be done?

Thanks for any help, everyone!

P.S. I’m a 16-yr old female, if that matters

You can find a layman's Abdominal Pain evaluation detailed at

http://www.webmd.com/content/article/90/100640.htm

or others at

BUT if you are in THAT DEGREE of pain, you really SHOULD at least CALL your physician, TALK to at least a Nurse.

For a young lady, there are MULTIPLE possibilities there, YES, one of which is a TUBAL pregnancy (which CAN be FATAL), along with the ever-popular APPENDICITIS (which can ALSO be FATAL).

Do yourself a favor you might LIVE to regret: CALL YOUR DOC!

Best wishes.

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse and appendicitis starts at the naval and does move to the right side. It may only be a grumbling appendix but it will get worse. Have you ever been sick or feel sick.

You may even be ovulating, that can be very painfull. How are your bowels, are they loose or are you constipated. It so it could be the start of IBS. If the pain continues I would go to the ED. Never leave abdominal pain unchecked.

It could be appendicitis.
Both me, my brother, and my mom have had appendicitis. It hurts on your right side. Its a sharp pain, but no its not completely unbearable. Yes it is worth going to the hospital! For some reason my brother's appendicitis didn't hurt him very bad so he had pain for about 5 days before my mom finally took him to the hospital and his appendix had errupted! Which is very bad! If it is appendicitis, it is better to get it taken care of right away. When i got pain on my side my mom knew almost right away that it was appendicitis and took me to the hospital the next day. I had my surgery that night and got to leave the hospital the next afternoon. My brother, on the other hand, had to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks because they had to remove all of the errupted pieces of the appendix so that there wouldn't be an infection. It can be fatal if you don't get it taken care of! Please go to the doctor! Another thing i just remembered is that both my brother and I also got high fevers. My brother's went up to about 104 degrees since his had errupted. My fever was about 100 degrees when we caught it early on. Also, I rememebr that when I got to the emergency room, they asked me to jump up and down. It hurt too much to jump too much and they let me through.
Good LUck
Go to the doctor or the hospital ASAP

Well if it is pregnancy, then you should not have had a period since your last time of sex. I would say you need to go to some kind of doctor or atleast call the hospital to see what they think. If it is your appendix, it will be very serious if it bursts. I would seek some kind of medical advice ASAP and not listen to what we all say on YAHOO! Most of us don't know what we are talking about LOL. Good Luck.

Amazing. This is exactly what is wrong with the world. GO TO THE HOSPITAL!!!

Abdominal pain for days is not normal. get it checked out right away. If you burst your appendix you are in serious trouble. Tell your parents and have them get you to a doctor somewhere.

Uterine fibroids are usually not dangerous, but can cause immense discomfort and lead to complications like anemia from heavy blood loss. In rare cases, they may cause complications that affect pregnancy.

In cases where there are no symptoms, treatment may not be necessary. However, proper diagnosis and treatment may be required if your symptoms are severe or causing complications. Along with conventional treatment, you can try some natural home remedies. Read here https://tr.im/IuyR3

with the kind of pain you're describing, if it IS pregnancy its probably tubal and would have to be removed. Just monitor your pain and if it starts to get worse, it might be worth a trip to the ER. Your health is not worth the risk of waiting. Sometimes things only get worse with time...

Go to the emergency room or to a doctor as soon as you can. Its not worth the risk if it really is appendicitis
