its hard now to be one than it used to be you need to see first if you meet their min requirements first then join their academy and must pass a exalting schooling and physical and mental test nd well i do know most city's are hiring so if you young enough and able body good hearing all limbs and good reactions and no felony record and stuff like that, i went on a Field trip with a school to show kids the sheriffs academy and they had two wall full of photos. ones that made the grade and one wall of ones that could not cut it and it was 10 time the size of the ones that made it like out of 100 people, 40 made it ,so if this what you want they will find this out at there academy if your for them good luck hope you get to be what you want

You don't need to go to college to be a cop. You need to take two entrance exams through a police department. A physical and a written one. You can contact your local police department to find out test dates and locations.

Go to a police Academy. Many municipalities have their own police academy's, many counties also have police academy's. Some community colleges, have police training programs.

My X husband is a cop. at first, after he got out of high school He went into the service, got alot of his training , there, when he got out of the service, { 18 yrs. later} He stayed in the service on his own chose. {{{ Not because they keep him }}} When got out he did have to go though a little P.A. after that he went right into this Big old world of police hood. He is still working now.and plans on retiring with police hood as a patrol man and looking into be a detective nowin Rhode Island with the department

I did just talk with him... He says, You will have to be able to pass a physical exam. and you can contact your Police Station and talk with them on how to get in because each state has diffrent rules I would like to tell you the best of luck to you!!!!!

They prefer you have a bachelor's degree in anything really, however, its not a requirement. You just go take the test at your local police department to see if you can get in or not.
