Looking for family oriented place to relax after 3-4 busy days with the theme parks in Orlando. Want to stay fairly close to Orlando. Driving from Ky so I don't really want to drive South of Orlando. At least not much.

Coco beach is the best!

The other respondents are totally correct that Cocoa Beach is closest and has rentals (bikes, surfboards, etc) at Ron-Jon's. But I think you should look into some our Gulf Coast estuaries and beaches. If you rent kayaks, there is a good chance you will see dolphins and/or manatees! Here is a link: http://www.floridastateparks.org/oscarscherer/default.cfm to a State Park with kayak rentals and gulf beaches. True, it's about 2.5 hours SW of Kissimmee, but it is a straight shot along I-4, and when it's time to head back to "The Bluegrass State", you will be right by I-75. Compare this with heading home from Cocoa Beach, and you find that overall little time is "lost".

generally i'd say Disney for absolutely everyone, it has nostalgia, memories, and thrills all packed into one. i love going and count number the days until eventually my next visit (187!) even if i imagine thus, and how you worded your question, you'd be more effective positive off going to universal Studios and Islands of journey. you may do those parks contained in the a million.5 days you've, yet Disney will take more effective. Plus then you actually have an excuse to bypass decrease back, no longer that you actually pick one. Disney has a touch of each thing, yet universal has more effective thrill rides. I went to Disney on my honeymoon 14 years in the past and we had a blast, yet i imagine with the restricted era of time you'll have more effective relaxing at universal, then plan an superb lengthy holiday to Disney contained in the destiny.

East of Orlando is Cocoa Beach (very nice place, with public beach). Just north of that is Daytona Beach. Either is only about an hour's drive from Orlando.

Cocoa Beach is nice. It's east. Dayton beach is a little north east. New Smyrna beach is between the other two along the coast. All are within an hr or so. All are good choices.
ask for directions from the hotel you're staying at, they will be glad to help. Relax and have fun!!!

Cocoa Beach, FL

about 50 miles due east of Orlando. Good for kids. Visit Ron Jon's Surf Shop and get the kids a t-shirt. Bicycle Rentals, Boogie Board rentals, etc. Nice beach.

How about a water park? There is a GREAT one right in the Disney world complex called Typhoon Lagoon. It has a beach and water slides and lots to do, but it isn't too big and you can definitely relax there. Plus, it's not as expensive as the other parks, and if you got one of the hopper park passes you can use it.

Kissimmee has a lot, like miniature golf, Ripley's Believe It of Not!, shopping, Dinner Shows, Helicopter Rides and more. You can also check out Tampa and Clearwater Beach which is about 1 hour and half west.

Cocoa Beach, FL. A little ways away (an hour?), but worth the drive.

Very touristy, stuff for the kids too.

I'd go west to Clearwater / St. Pete's area. Beautiful, clean beaches, pristine water, nice area.
