women do this for several reasons.
1) some fashion trends show the lower abs off and a lot of current club/dance wear is halters and other tops for women that are more like dressed up bikini tops. so these girls just want to be trendy
2) to get attention from the opposite sex. girls want to be noticed by guys. best and fastest way for that to happen is flash a little skin. why do you think bikini's are so popular and getting smaller and smaller?
3) to outdo their g/f's or any other girl they might met. girls dont like to be outdone in fashion. so anything and everything that they can do is a plus. no girl wants to let another girl get all the attention so they pick outfits to show a little more skin than what their gf's might be wearing.
if you are a guy showing belly. you are either very gay or very fat and dont know you have dunlop disease.

We may never have a real answer to this perplexing question. I don't know. Do they not own a mirror? Even when "sexy" people show off their stomachs, don't they get cold? I suppose there is a time and a place for this style - like in a night club, but even then I've seen girls who I think look much better who are not showing their bellies. It's extra bad when heavy girls go out with their rolls hanging out. Nobody wants to see this!

haha
um well i am professional model so i go halfnaked all the time. cuz it is my job..
in England we like to say this as our was of feeling comfortable"this too shall pass"
its very east why women and mostly women do.
n spite of working with internationally renowned designers, it's taken 40-year-old Susannah Constantine 33 years to define her style. Two years of writing about cars and cricket matches didn't help the situation, but the experience of dressing more than 2,000 women since writing her fashion column in UK newspaper The Daily Telegraph cemented her knowledge of female dilemmas. Susannah lives in chaos with her husband Sten and two kids.
What do you like about What Not to Wear?
"All the women we have worked with have been fantastic and they're tremendous characters in their own right. There's a very human side to the show, where everyone says 'oh clothes, it's not a science it's just clothes, who cares about clothes.' But actually, if a woman dresses right and she dresses better than she did before, it gives her so much more confidence.
Why is WNTW so successful?
"There is a real human story that each show follows, but also if a woman watching the show has big **** or a flabby tummy, they can see and identify with that woman and see how they can dress themselves. I think that is the secret of the show's success. It's real fashion, for real women.
"There's so much political correctness now. It's very real and it's in your face. And that is quite refreshing.
So, you think you have style?
"I was once asked who was the least stylish person on our show and I said without question myself. I find it very easy to dress other people but I find it very hard to dress myself. It's getting better, but I'm someone who was not born with style and I've kind of learnt what suits me.
What do you consider to be your worst fashion disaster?
"I've had so many fashion disasters. Elton John has a ball every year - white tie and tiara. I'd just had a baby and thought I was a lot thinner than I actually was. I had the opposite of anorexia and thought I looked like Elle McPherson. And my God did I not! I wore a dress that was very plunging. My **** were H cup, and my arms were huge to carry the weight of my breasts and I wore this little strappy dress with this net coat over the top. I looked like a barmaid. I looked so hideous. I look back now and I'm so embarrassed. And it wasn't that long ago.
And are you always so stylish?
"I can't live and die by what I wear, especially now I have two kids. My TV life and private life are so separate they don't cross over at all. Most of the time I'm in the countryside, looking like ****."
Most important thing to have in your wardrobe? "A decent bra. If you've got boobs definitely a decent bra. It's the foundation from which you can build."
And the worst thing…
"The tapered trouser and sensible court shoes."

Well, I guess if they have a nice stomach then it is to show it off. It's when people with big flabby stomachs wear short shirts that you have to stop and ask yourself "WHY??" It certainly isn't very attractive then. But, that is the beauty of our great country, freedom of expression!

I don't know. I think it is really gross when people that actually have fat on their stomach wear stuff like that. I mean it is bad enough when the skinny minnies wear them but when bigger girls do, it is just disgusting. I don't think it is sexy at all, I think it is trashy.

I don't always like to show my tummy, but my boyfriend loves my stomach and wants me to get my belly button pierced! I wear belly shirts in the summer to the beach or the carnival out with my boyfriend.

Many women have very sexy stomachs, and their belly button really does it for me. I would rather them have nothing on, but I'll settle for a short blouse.

Only people who have a tight stomach should do it if they want to attract others.
