Why should there be an alternative?
The energy crisis? People predicted we'd run out of fuel decades ago, now there are more reserves than ever.

But NONE of them point to "failure".

There have been alternatives for a very long time. But the problem is labor verses easy assess ability. It costs more money to extract energy resources from commodities such as corn etc. as apposed to getting easy crude oil. And of coarse politics, greed and other factors come into play.To bad for us. We're addicted now.

No, its a failure of Government. Fuel cells, bio diesel already exist, they are not being implementd on a wide scale because of the economic backlash which will follow.

There are plenty of alternative fuels. Just not very many cars that use other fuels. Hydrogen, Alcohol, Methane, Propane... to name a few.
