What do you think the REAL reason is we went to war in Iraq?

Please, no talking points...oil, imperialism, and Halliburton are out...I am curious what other theories are out there...

Because studies have shown that by the year 2015 our sand reserves will be almost non existant, beaches will be empty thus causing severe drops in tourism. Our economy would crash and people such as lifegaurds would be out of work. So we are over there to take as much sand as we can before its too late. Thats what I think.

I think they didn't KNOW there were wmd, but figured the odds were that he had some..... Iraq was weaker than Iran therefore a better place to "plant the seeds of democracy". They underestimated how many people actually would rather live under a horrible dictator than live in a democracy. The jury is still out...... if 10-20 years from now there are still suicide bombers and people blowing up buildings we'll know it didn't work..... if the mideast is one big happy democratic free society alot of far left people are gonna look mighty stupid. p.s. on Haliburton: from what I saw, Cheney got 35 million in his final year as ceo.... he walked away from the job to take a job that pays about 1/4 million or so... I really don't see why people might think he started a war to "get rich" ------ the fluffernutter answer could also be true

Hypocrites just love an excuse to hang out together! Just Kidding. The US needed to establish a stronger military presence near the oil reserves of the Mideast to play in the geopolitical game developing with China, Europe, and Russia to dominate or control oil resources on a global scale.

Dude....oil, imperialism, and Haliburton (aka profit) *ARE* the reasons for the war. Of course you can add the need to test new military hardware and torture techniques, allowing soldiers to unwind with Iraqi killing sprees, revenge for Daddy Bush, and pure ignorance to the list but the first 3 are the real reasons.

There is a group in the Pentagon that has been planning to get rid of Sadaam since before George W. became President. September 11th gave them the excuse that they needed.

I read this in a reputable magazine several years ago. Unfortunately, I can't remember many of the details, just the gist of it.

Iraq is a bait and switch. Bush could not find Osama, so they went to war in Iraq to take our minds off of him. Now that Iraq is no longer a rallying point, gay marriage and immigration are the new bait.

Different cultures fear one another and in a matter of time one chooses to extinguish the other as a threat in any way. Here is an extinguishing of a threat to Americanism.

I can't think of any better way to get the government down to drowning size than by spending $5 BILLION to $6 BILLION per month in Iraq (a total of $315 BILLION by the end of September this year).

the real reason we went to war is because bush father had previous problems with Sudam Hussan and since his dads not in office anymore n bush was this was his dads only chance to get Sudam
