Uh..... use a lawnmower. When cutting the grass, overlap your cuts. Its not exactly rocket science. My 6 year old does it all the time.

Keep the mower blade higher during the Summer months so that the grass doesn't dry out so fast. In the Fall till early Spring, you can lower the blade.

The advice posted earlier about changing directions (horizontal & then vertical) is another good tip!

Better to cut often and higher than scalp the lawn, especially in dry weather.

Vary the pattern each time you cut to avoid making ruts.

Save the clippings for garden mulch.

Keep your mower blade very sharp.

Don't cut when the grass is wet from dew or rain.

push the lawn mower untill all the grass is short.
