This just amazes me...
1. Current administration's 911 report declared Iraq did not have anything to do with 911. This is an absolute but some ppl still want to argue with it.
2. We r participating in the torture of prisoners through what is called redension. (We send them to a country that does torture so we can say we didn't do it then get information given back to us) Even C. Rice herself has admitted we do this.
3. The UN was great and wonderful until they didn't do what we wanted. If the UN was so corrupt then why did we even go to them for Iraqi war approval? And think for just a sec... when did the allegations of corruption start? =when they wouldn't back what Bush wanted. No corruption has been proven btw.
4. Some say Saddam stated he had WMD beforethe war. Saddam himself went on 60 minutes prior to our invastion stating he didn't have them. How can ppl just make up this lie? And why is that even relevant?
Why can't neocons see truth when it's slapping them in the face?

cmdr.. that's the point - how can we protest or be so upset that they tortured when we, admittingly, are doing it too?

Irishfan.. you took my UN sarcasm literally. I was saying that everybody accepted anything the UN had done PRIOR to them not giving Bush what he wanted. Then all of a sudden, UN corruption was a main topic. Doesn't take a rocket-scientist to see through that one.

Rob H - you assume too much. I was a participant in the Gulf War... 339th ASA co. Having been in the military, I have many friends who were in Vietnam etc.. Why do ppl assume that everyone who opposes the methods we are using in this war and the reaons for it, are not veterans?

People rarely accept the accusations made about ideas that they hold to be truths, especially when the accusations are made by people who are opposed to their ideals.
People want to believe things that make them feel better about their lives. They want to feel like they're supporting the good of mankind. Where we all differ greatly is in what we think is good for mankind.
So people believe the things that stroke their feelings of self worth and reject the ideas that make them feel bad.
This has nothing to do with conservative values and everything to do with human nature.

The UN has never been great and wonderful. Look at the balkans they are just as responsible for the fall of srbenicia as the serbs are they turned a blind eye to that as well as to what was happening in sarajevo. Oil for food program maybe I mean come on now. The UN is an organization that lacks respect and power in the world, in the balkans if you wear a blue beret your chances of being shot go up 100%, which is worse than the Dutch and the muslims there blame the dutch more than the UN. Torture of Prisoners what countries are we sending them to?

Good question, Hard answer,. the fact is ,. people belive what they want, facts-be-damned, however he did have a few chemical wmds, nothing that could threaten the U.S. Mainland,. but he had them non theless , he used them on the Kurds in the North,. But the fact is ,. they had an aggenda when this admnistration came to office, they wanted Sadam outta there, and they used 911 as a excuse, and i have to aggree , i was all for his removal,. but they did not plan for the post war situation,. and that's were we are today ,. Powell advised them not to go in and if you did ,. go in with the appropiate forces to get the job done,... they shipped him off to e. europe or somethin and went in anyway , ill and unprepared,..Had Mr. Bush actually served his country in any kind of honorable way ,. he might have had a better clue as to tactics ,. and by the way ,. the UN,. Needs serious house cleaning ,. Still, there was no real reason to invade iraq,.Other then Sadamn removal, they were of no threat or concern of ours,. unlike Korea,. who has Proven itself a REAL threat, Now on the verge of Launching a ballistic Missle with the capability of reaching our shore, had he a real clue or intestinal fortitude,. he would have have stepped to them instead of Iraq

Whether you want to admit it or not,the UN is nothing but a nest of rats that have been feeding mostly on US taxpayers expense, since it's the US that provides one quarter of the bill, there has to be a world council when trouble arises but this UN has degenerated to voting for their own interests similar to what the Olympic judges have done for years,if you do not want to admit that, then you been in the beach too long and developed sunstroke

I believe that we did go into Iraq looking for WMD's but even though we didn't find any I still believe Sadaam needed to be taken out. I dont think and i believe that he had nothing to do wit9-11. But, he did kill thousands of his own people and he did gas people he didn't like. I dont make excuses for people but I was a marine. And I was in Kosovo and saw with my own eyes what these crazy leaders do. I dont condone torture but you need to see and be in combat before you can understand what goes through the mind of a soldier that sees and hears death everyday...

Some day our great-grandchildren will read about how corrupt our current society was in their history books (or on their school-issue Blackberries). They will debate to no ends on how and why this degradation in public morals happened and sit around campuses and coffee houses confident in their own abilities to avoid our stupid mistakes. Then the president of 2116 will send 500 000 Arnold Schwarzeneggar clones to Planet Grog because they have WMD (and oil).

Even with facts people like to think that there is a bigger conspiracy taking place. There are some out there that still think the moon landing was faked in a studio and that 911 was a ploy of our government used as an excuse to go to war. Conspiracy theorists love to find the facts and twist them to fit their own agenda. They just can't accept that wonderful and terrible things happen, you can't hide it, it just is.

This to address you're question, not your subtext; what's the matter, haven't you caught onto the fact people are essentially barefaced liars yet?
Why this concern over, really, what amounts to a minor war. Never mind all that wheel spinning you see. I have yet to hear one of you concerned ones address what's really going on inall home countries.
That kind of cowardice is obscene. Particularly here.
Lies.

Because you are a communist. *sarcasm*
In all honesty, I have no problem with people believing what they believe. But when you start insulting people because they believe differently then you, then you are wrong.
