It probably depends on the time of the day, remember that most fish do not like to eat during the hottest and brightest part of the day. Good luck next time.

think there's a season for that.did you watch the stars or clouds? they usually tell when they'll bite(the fish that is).
if you see the clouds looking small & dispersed, they would be out, it's a tide thing that links the sky to the ocean, like the lunar-tide thing, I think.
