I would like to seek help from other countries to help the people of the Philippines. How can I go about setting up a charity so I can help bring food and money to the needy people of the Philippines? If you look at our situation in the Philippines, you will see that most of us do not have a decent house(we live in Nipa Huts.a house made of bamboo.) We suffer from power outages several times a day.People are starving here because of lack of food and lack of jobs. I know its just not us that need help but other countries like China, Japan too. I just want to know how i can get help for my country.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you and God Bless.

I dont know how to start a charity, other than to start small and local, taking up collections of money, food, books, clothes, etc. and sending them to the Philippines.
Maybe you can contact the red cross or similar organization and ask them what you can do to help get relief to people in your country? Things like fundraisers, clothing drives, rummage sales, etc. that you can organize and donate to the Philippines through red cross?

I dont know much about the Philippines government, my only understanding is that it needs to change for things to get better.

These might seem like minor actions but to change the world, I guess you have to start somewhere, right?

Good Luck.

I'm a Filipina-American. I think that the Philippines should get a new president, because the country is getting nowhere. One of my professors, who is a Filipino, even said that. The reason why the country is poor and why Filipino families in America, like mine, send money to our families in the Philippines is because of their government. I was reading a Filipino newspaper about education in the Philippines. It said that the government spends the least amount of money on education! They spend most of the money on the military. I think that's stupid! Education is important and they need to work on improving it in the Philippines. So to answer your question, I think that everyone in the Philippines should be careful about who they vote for the next president. The Philippines needs a new president!

Being an American, I sometimes forget that people in other parts of the world live in poverty, even though many of our own people suffer as you do. I do know that many school districts are hiring teachers because they can't always get qualified ones here. You may want to look in to this. I personally know that Maryland does this.
Good luck! You are in my prayers.

I've been to P. I. and loved it and would love love to return there some day. I think the people are great. but the P. I. wanted self rule they separated from the US. Now its up to your government to help its people. Go there and help one person at a time. Pray for the country daily

I don't know, and I do think it's admirable that you want to do something to help your country. However, we Americans here in America need to help out our own countrymen. Instead we are sending our troops to everywhere else to take care of other people's problems. We are sending or have sent billions of dollars to aid other countries, meanwhile we have a health care crisis in our own country, we have a homeless problem here in our country, we have problems maintaining the integrity of our borders and other problems too numerous to list. As Americans here in America, we need to help out our fellow countrymen.
