There is no quick method to losing weight. In order to lose weight in a healthy way you should only be losing ten pounds a month-- max. There is no miracle method either. Your best way is to eat healthy (cut out fat and sugar as much as possible) and exercise daily.

There's a program called "Turbo Jam":
http://www.beachbody.com/jump.jsp?itemID=176&itemType=CATEGORY&path=1,2,21
It is just amaizing and it's worth the money you would spend on it (about $50-$200 for a set of 3 to about 10 DVDs/VHS). You can pick how many of them you'd like to get and which ones. Anyone can do it at any age. It has a little bit of everything (exercise, dance, and even a little bit Karate or Tae Kwon Doe techniques) and it's a lot of fun. A lot of moves are even given to teach you self-defense and how to protect yourself from an attack. The body feels lighter and you have a lot of energy after it, even though you might feel like you're tired. Each set of exercises range from 20 minutes to 45 minutes, and have different levels of difficulty and activity. You burn up to 1,000 Calories a day and start loosing weight (and inches) as soon as you start! They also include the 10-day-workout "diet" that you can follow without any problems. It's deliecious :) ...
Plus to that, in just 10 workouts you can loose up to 10 inches (about 5lbs=1 extra inch on the waist line) off your waistline--that's 10 DAYS if you'll do it everyday :) You can feel all your muscles work as soon as you start and do the moves and the exercises that they show. They show step by step everything that you'd need to know. They have Elite-11 (no, not as in "Millitary" or "Navy") exercises that they use in any combination throughout the whole program. You can do it at your own pace and your own time. It might look hard at first, but it's easier as you go on.
I tried it and it's the best there is! I love it! :)
P.S.: Just make sure you'll take it step by step and use caution just like with everything else. Don't over-exercise and take breaks when you feel you can't go on any longer. In other words: Be careful and don't get hurt. Consult your physician (if you'd like) before doing anything to make sure that you'll be able to handle any "stressfull" routines.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!

depends on how much weight. I would eat salads, fruits, vegetables, lean meat, and NO sugar, fat, or other junk food. Exercise frequently (at least 20 minutes a day).
