Besides the friendship pins (ha! that is so funny, I had forgotton all about those!), there were the friendship barretts. Those little metal barretts with the slit down the center. Braid two different color ribbons down and leave a length of both ribbons w/ a couple of beads on the end.

Ummm... the "roach"...uh hmmm. I mean "alligator" clip w/ the leather strap and feathers.
Bandanas came back pretty big. But in other places besides your head. Tied around your leg, ankle or as an arm bands, oh yeah, some of the girls had small enough waists to wear them as belts

The fabric braided head bands.

Anything using neon fabric--bold pinks, greens, yellows, orange. Thank goodness thats over.

Late 80's = early madonna. I'm sure that any of that jewelry can easily be created with supplies from a arts and crafts store.

Find an old coloring book with cartoon charactors from the 80's like Thundercats, Carebears, He-man, she-ra. Or you could make a prodject that is a punn like make a "breakfast club" by glueing and painting cereal on a cardboard tube (as the club) Is this for kids, or teens or adults, more detail pls. They could also make a collage with clippings from old magazines of 80's stars and items.

go to the seashore and collect little seashells and clam shells and what ever your day will find. if you see snail shells pick up those as well. when your all tired out, take five bucks and go get some yarn, string, snazzy beads, and whatever your eyes like, and then head home to set your pieces out for your project. you've seen those wind chimes that you hang. well they did sell those then and it will remind you of what your lookin for. another one is the beads on the shirt. you cut the bottom of shirts, (that wont fray) into strips all the way around and put your favourite beads on it. sometimes these were tye die shirts with beads. if you can put a modern twist on these things then you may want to try them. maybe make a curtain with these kind of bead fringes? those face tshirts would look ok with beads on them.

take a t-shirt and cut the bottom edge and the sleeves about 1/4 inch strips and take the large beads and string them on and tie a knot, can also do this to handkerchiefs for head wraps, just cut them in half on the diagonal and hem the rough edge, also cut 1/4 inch strips starting from the point and working out to the edge
bead and knot.

In the 80's you wore the double belts the broach on the lapel on a over sized suit coat you wore knit stockings and big hair bows. That was also the time when friendship bracelets came out.

You can do a scrapbooking page or make greeting cards with Creative Memories 80's stickers -- but hurry, they are only available while supplies last.
