The debate between non-arranged marriages and arranged marriages is an everlasting one. Even when looking at some of the comments in the discussion forums, we can see that many believe that arranged marriages are more successful because expectations for marriage and family life are more realistic. Some of these same people can give you personal experiences explaining how they came to love their spouse over time in an arranged marriage.
On the other hand, many believe that arranged marriages result in unhappiness since both the boy and the girl are forced into an unwanted relationship. Some believe that if you do not choose your spouse, you will be unhappy. Simply put, there have been many successful, happy arranged marriages. There have also been many unsuccessful arranged marriages.
So how can we answer your question? The answer is, we can`t. Determining the happiness of a marriage and a family cannot be generalized into a statistic. Each and every relationship is unique and has its own set of circumstances. Many arranged marriages have failed, and many have succeeded.
Each marriage should be analyzed on a case-by-case situation to determine if the family and the marriage has "succeeded." Thus, there is no clear-cut answer to figure out whether arranged marriages are better than non-arranged marriages.

I am a man, and married for 7 years and live in USA. I dated a lot (including platonic relationship with almost every one, except my married wife before marriage).
Yes, my marriage was arranged because all my datings were unsuccessful. Sometime I was rejected, sometimes I dumped. them.
I don't feel very proud of what I did in my young age but at least listen to my 'Mother' who arranged my marriage by judging my wife's family background (which I never cared while dated). Of course, I dated her too for one year before I marry her. Knowing each other is extremely important (if he/she is you type). Is things does not work very well, don’t go for the marriage, whether arranged or chosen. Remember, ‘Divorce’ is a failure to adjust with other personality. Better, be careful.

Hmmm....in certain cultures I suppose. I wouldn't go for one myself, but with some of the questions and answers I've seen here, maybe some of these people need this kind of structure!

Absolutely !!
I believe that they exists.
I believe that they are valid.
I believe that they may actually be 'better' than other types of marriages.
