Are you using any kind of prescription coverage? If so, any generic pill should cost the same co-pay(between $5 - 15, depending on your plan). Otherwise, generics usually run between $25-$35 if you don't have insurance. Brands are more expensive(Yasmin, for example, is roughly $42). A generic is always going to be a less expensive option. Which pill you would need depends on your body - you might need a lower dose of hormones than your neighbor, or you might need a higher dose. Different pills can also help different issues - Ortho Tri Cyclen is supposed to help get rid of acne; Yasmin helps reduce the length and flow of your period for some women.
All birth control pills carry some risks - higher for women over 35 and smokers. It's important that you check with a doctor first because there are some medical conditions that make going on oral contraceptives an impossibility.

Go to a Community clinic and tell them you can not afford birth control and much less a baby and they will give you a whole year supply of pills and condoms for free. You need to keep going to that clinic for annuals and they will provide you with birth control for free as long as you need them.

Almost all the birth control pills are around the same price....If you find yourself needing a little assistance, try going to your local Health Department. If you qualify you may even get them for free.Good Luck!♥

Call Planned Parenthood and see if you qualify for free birth control. Condoms are inexpensive and do double duty by protecting you against disease also.
