I am in zone 5. I would like to be able to leave my Dalia bulbs in the ground during Winter. Will they be safe?

yes you do, if they are left in the ground when the ground freezes the bulbs will also freeze and turn to mush.

Check with a gardening club where you live-- as the first person said-- where the dalia bulbs are and how sheltered may make a difference-- however, this plant is native to southern Mexico-- been hybridized for many years-- and it may be strong enough. I live in zone 7-- with south facing flower bed protected from north winds-- mine will do OK.
good luck

Only if the ground freezes in winter to below the depth of them. The ones I planted around the south side of the foundation did not need to be dug up, but the ones on the north side and in the shade did.

I would say so unless they are in a particularly sheltered area like close to the house. We live in PA and my son has luck leaving his glads out year round because they are next to the house.
