I love this part, Is suggest that we can look behind the physical world to see who we really are inside, and love can conqure all. We see that he is in love and dreams of acceptance ad love with someone who he sees as true bueaty. he hopes she can also see past his disfigured face into his heart and soul.
She will later do just that, and see his heart and sole are just as dark when see sings "The tears I might have shead for your dark fate grow cold, and turn to tears of hate"

ogres have layers...no, wait.....onions have layers......donkeys do not have layers......Okay, she removes the 1st layer, the mask, and Phantom tells her there is yet another layer under the monster; a man, and then a dreaming beauty like Christine herself. I know the tune of this passage is repeated in the second half, but I can't remember what it's content is about, but I think it's pretty menacing to Rauol. Ironic, because he's pretty monstrous to Raoul.

fear can turn to love,you'll learn to see...that would mean that he loves her,but she's afraid of him & he knows it,so he's saying "you can learn to love me back,even though you are afraid of me now". Right? To find the man behind the monster...,that would be like he is human even though his face is all distorted.secretly dreams of beauty...that could mean that he dreams of christine.Thats the best i've got.

sorry, but I've never really that it had THAT much meaning to it except for what you hear in the song, so I'm not sure. The layers one sounds good, lol.
