Tell them it's a teenage thing.
It's your job to be moody.
Tell them your mind is growing and not to disturb you until school starts back.

I would seek out some help--and tell them that you're trying to find a way out of the "hole" you are in, and that you would appreciate their help.
You could be experiencing a chemically-induced depression or shutting down because of emotional stressors, in which case talking to a doctor or therapist might help...they might suggest positive visualization techniques, moderate exercise, changes in your diet/intake of certain substances like caffeine, talk therapy, or even a temporary regime of medication.
You might also have a low functioning thyroid gland, in which case you would be experiencing low moods, fatigue, and (over time) even weight gain. Your doctor could send you to an endrochronologist and a simple blood test could tell you if this is the case. Women, teens, and pregnant people are particularly vulnerable to thyroid disorders, and they often go overlooked.
Most of all though, I would just explain to my parents that I was still trying to figure out who I was/what kind of person I wanted to be/what I wanted to do with my life/what made me feel good and bad, and tell them honestly that I wasn't sure why I had been acting "down," but that I'd appreciate their patience as I tried to explore my feelings and find a way to be happy and productive.
Tell them that you hope your low moods are only temporary, that you want to be happy, that you know they want you to be happy, too, and that it's nice to know that they love you enough to be worried about you.

Perhaps you are going through something that even you cannot explain. Sit down and talk to your parents - tell them the truth. That you don't really know why you are "down" (depressed) Perhaps they will be able to read your sincerity and provide some help for you. It is not emotionally healthy to be depressed for any period of time when there is so much information available to support and assist your needs. Tell them the truth and get some help,. You will feel much better. Your Yahoo friends are here for you,.

Is there something upsetting you, or are you anxious about something and it is putting a cloud over you? What you need to do is see if you can find what may be depressing you. Or else be honest with them if you really don't know why you are feeling the way you do.

Well sometimes parents can see things we don't normally see.
If you have been feeling down and out of sorts or not yourself - you can go to this great Canadian site and then click on "Check up from the neck up"
Here is the link: http://www.checkupfromtheneckup.ca/

Tell them that. Tell them that you are just feeling out of it. Ask them if they have ever gone thru a time of just feeling down and how they dealt with it.
