me personally,
I think smash Bros has the greatest fighting action ever. plus, you can have great battles with up to 4 players.
Im open to reasons for and against though cuz they're both good.

SSB Melee hands down. The fighting style is better, easier for a novice gamer to pick up, and the cast of characters and levels from all over Nintendo-dom has great, wide-reaching appeal. The replay value of the game is very high because of its fun multiplayer options, as well as all the challenging mini-games and unlockables. I don't say this lightly, but in my opinion SSB Melee is one of the best fighting games of all time (if not the best, but it's hard to compare newer games against SF2 and the original MK and other games from that era)

Super Smash Bros Melee all the way (and once it comes out Super Smash Bros Brawl for the Wii). Super Smash has always had way more items to use and characters to play as. Do not be fooled by any other figher SSB is the best.

I don't think either is the best ever, but between the two, I'd say Super Smash Bros. Melee. Why? Because I like seeing Link take that sell-out Mario down a few pegs. Why did he get to be the ref in Mike Tyson's Punch-out, grrr.

I would prefer Tekken. It makes the fighting game like a karate match to have fighters that are humanoid, rather than so fictional, such as on Smash Bros. I never really was a fan of that series.
My real favorite fighting series is the Mortal Kombat series.

i am very much NOT a fan of many of the nintendo products, but i have been, ever since my brother got it, enjoyed super smash brothers melee... i like the more zoomed out form of free for all fighting, as aposed to tekken and mortal combats zoomed in, 3 foot long arenas....
