Can anyone be happy with health insurance? Premiums are way too high and co-pays are high as well. It's hard to find a good doctor and when you do his hands are constantly tied by the insurance approval. They look at money completely!

Absolutely. We are covered through my job, and while it does take a chunk out of my salary (approximately $200/mo), it ended up being well worth it. My son ended up spending his entire life in the hospital (2 months), had 2 surgeries (1 major), 6 rounds of chemotherapy, blood transfusions nearly every day, and we never once paid a single cent. The only "bill" we ever saw was the itemized list we received for the first hospital that he was at, because it was a hospital owned by someone other than Kaiser. This was before the surgeries, before the chemo, and only 10 days staying there, and it was already $100,000. We were always treated very well, my son had access to every doctor he ever needed, instantly. He had at least 5 different specialists that saw him on a daily basis. My husband and I have also had great experiences, though neither of us had the health issues my son had. As long as we are treated this well, I'm not sure we'll ever change.

We are covered under Kaiser Permanente.

I do recognize that not everyone has it this good, and before I had this job, I couldn't afford insurance. I think the system does need to be overhauled, but I do like the Kaiser model.

...what life insurance?! It's a pretty big ripoff, especially if you're spend $1000 dollars a month...like some of my relatives. I'd rather make that money work somewhere else, and pay as I go...who wants to support a reductive health care system that caters to nobody but the drug companies and special interest groups? It's the biggest racket going in America, besides the war.

Health insurance? What's health insurance?

More like health assurance --as in: "I assure you, you will die if you get anything serious b/c you live in America where nobody can afford health insurance."

Yes
I have good coverage.
No I would like to see the health care industry do away with insurance completely. If we didn't have it would force providers to charge manageable fees for services.

They just changed mine at work. The rate went down!! It is no better coverage than the last one... I liked the Mental Health benefits of the last one better. This one, I have pre-approval to see the doctor I have been going to for years. And I have to give verification (whatever that entails) that I need to see him. Fan-freakin-tastic!

Absolutely, if I only use it for emergency purposes only. In my opinion, they are not helpful for anything else, because they push drugs and cover up the real symptoms of a problem. But they do come in handy when you have a broken arm or something. I wouldn't be without it.

I'd be happier if it weren't so expensive. I pay for it myself and right now its the second biggest monthly expense, after rent. My co-pay is $15, and I have a $100 deductible for prescriptions.
