If you were from another world and found this planet and spent a year watching us, would you really want to make yourself known, knowning how we treat each other on this planet that are different and knowing that our religious groups would turn the earth against you because you bring thier teachings to questions like they have done to certain cultures in history (American indians, Aztec, Celtics)

It all depends on MY goals, beliefs, and morals. To answer this we must know the intentions of the visitor.
Maybe I just want to exploit the planet for raw materials. If my technology was signifigantly more advanced, it wouldn't matter if humans saw me or not.
Maybe I'm a scientist put here to watch. Then I could not reveal myself for fear of ruining the research.
Maybe I'm so different in size, form, and behavior that humans would never notice me as a living being anyway. Humans tend to think extra-terrestrials will all be about 5-6' tall, bipedal, 2 arms, 2 eyes, etc.

I would. Especially if being on earth gave me paranormal abilities like...super speed and x-ray vision...and maybe the gravity here is less so I could jump really far and high? hell yeah I would. I'd even wear a cape. And proclaim myself "world-dictator...or else"

Here is one for you. What if you could enter the other species and affect how they lived? What if you could slow them down, force them to stay put and do nothing but think?
What if you could travel on an asteroid, stay in a frozen state and re-animate after hundreds of years - time travel, if you will?

If i would be technologically superior, it will be a huge competition on earth about who my main ally will be, if not it will be a huge competition on earth about who will capture me first and exterminate in order to find informations. So, better to watch! Anyway, nice question.
