no one likes to admit they screwed up. for the most part they're unremarkable and only teach the researcher what not to do the next time.

Experimental failures are reported; you just don't hear about them. News does get out within the various scientific fields, though. Sometimes failures are published in peer-reviewed journals, but more often, all the "failed" attempts are reduced to a few sentences describing what didn't work before the authors move on to what *did* work.
The reason you don't hear about science's "failures" is the same reason you don't see "failed" products on your favorite store's shelves. Failures only serve to confuse the general public and lower people's confidence in research. You can bet, though, that something will be said about failures in industry publications. We share almost as much about our failures as we do about our successes.

They are reported. Occassional a study sponsored by a drug company or other commercial interest will be suppressed (which is illegal if the drug is eventually marketed) but for the most part negative results are reported and published.
Actually, for most studies, the results are what they are, and can't be classified simply as a success or failure.

"Failed" studies are indeed reported, but usually they are only seen in peer-reveiwed trade magazines. So unless you happen to have a subscription, you aren't going to see it. There magazines aren't slod in stores. Occasionally, if the findings are very interesting, a major, publicated magazine or newgroup will pick it up and put it out on storeshelves and TV.

everything from science is just the best guess..nothing is absolute..
you are right, all the success is experience lots of failure and they were not reported because were not an achievement. lots of people experience failure but not all sucessful..only those keep learning from the failure then only can sucess.

Most peer reviewed journals disallow failed experiments unless the failed experiment is based on already published research. Publishing all failed research would be extremely costly in the short and long run anyway.
