Italy will be eliminated in the semi - finals by either Germany or Argentina, as they will have to play either of those teams to get to the finals.
So, if Italy make it through the semis, then they will go and win the world cup. Italy has reached the finals five times, and winning it three times, and losing twice. In both their loses, they were against the Brazilians.
If Italy can reach the finals, and Brazil is eliminated along the way ~ then Italy are the favourates to win the cup. But first they have to get past Germany in the semis.
On a world cup level, Germany and Italy have played four games. Of these games, Italy has won two and drew two. So the Germans have never won aginst Italy at this level. The total number of games they have played against each other is 13, with Italy winning 5 and Germany winning 3 and drawing 5. It is also worth mentioning that all 3 games that Germany won against Italy were friendly games.
The Germans are yet to make history by beating Italy at the world cup level.
