I'm looking for the next best thing. (Yeah, it's a Warren Zevon song.) I was wondering, do you think it's a wrong to turn down something really great you don't like (i.e., a huge yacht, a four-course dinner) for something you do (a small but comfortable dinghy, a mac-and-cheese dinner)? Is this even a morality question or is it just preference?

I think there is some sensibility involved as well. I, for one, would have no use for a huge yacht. I would not have a place to store one, nor could I afford to maintain one. A small dinghy, however, will fit nicely in my backyard. My husband might even use it every now and again. Never second guess yourself. Your instinct to turn something down is usually correct, and don't think of it as settling but rather knowing what is right for you.

moral i think ...but bewarew if you do something like this you will hear it from people without them... for example I got a job at 15 and worked for everything i owned then at 17 i got married no i have a family( one child) and we own our own house which we purchased before we had our son... while my sister is married has a baby , is pregnant and lives with my parents , my parents are loseing there home (due i think to helpping support my sister and here family) so my sister is planning to move in with her husbands family... they would help me if I give them the chance...i don't mneed or want their help! i'd rather have to eat raman noodles for dinner at my house then go to theirs and have steaks on the grill( which my sister does as well)...it's ok to think the way you think ...good for you!

No it isn't wrong. You are not settling for less, you are getting what you believe is the best.
