How about just telling the teacher the truth.
I had to write a paper for English class when I was in college. The class met twice a week, Tues and Thurs. I didn't get it done by the due date which was Tues. I went to the teacher on Wed and told him I did not turn in my paper because I didn't have it done. He asked me "Why?" . I said I just didn't do it. I gave no explanation as to why I didn't write it. He said I could hand it in the next day, Thurs, because I told him the truth. He didn't penalize me for being late. He said that if I had made up an excuse then he would have said "NO!.
If you really lost your homework then say so. But if you just didn't do it, then say so. Be honest either way. Your teacher might show you mercy like my teacher did me.

You will never convince your teacher that you lost your homework. Your teacher may seem to accept your excuse but you have lost all respect and trust. I f you did not do your homework, just admit the truth and ask what you can do to make it up. At least you may convince your teacher that you do have some integrity.

If you are trying to convince your teacher, get a note signed by your parents explaining what happened and asking to turn it in the next day. I am a teacher and that's about all I'll listen to from a student. Otherwise, I just tell them it's a zero, or half on depending upon the assignment.

do you want a serious answer or a joke ? Seriously the only way to have "get out free card" for your lazyness from time to time is to be an excellent student so that the teacher will believe you on those times you didnt do the hw and be sympathetic because he knows that you normally DO turn everything in. I was a straight A student so I usually got a looot of extensions from teachers because they all loved me. =) good luck

You could say that you left it at the library because you were doing it there. When you went back to collect it, a toddler had drawn all over it. After saying this, compliment the teacher on what they are wearing i.e.what a nice top etc. That will sure make them happy and they'll definitely let you off.

It is your fault you lost your homework. Accept the consequences and next time pay more attention to where you put it. If you are a normally diligent student it shouldn't be a problem.

You mean how do you persuade someone that you lost your homework? tell them you did your homework, but you lost it. Thats all you need to say.

Just turn it in. Obviously it taking you a while to think of an exuse. I bet you can do it faster than you can think of an excuse.

Focus on actually turning it in, and this will not be a problem.
