NOOOO....you match your makeup with your hair and complexion, and your eyes. You can accent your makeup with your clothes...like if you're wearing green, put a little green in your shadow; but basically, you want people to see YOU, not your makeup.

Rather than matching your eye make-up to your outfit you should try to choose eye make-up colors that best compliment your eye color. The general rule is that opposite colors on the color wheel will compliment each other. For example blue eyes go with brown shades of shadow. Green eyes go with plums and purple shades of eye shadow. If you aren't sure what colors are opposite from your eye color check out the link to a color wheel below. Pick the color on the direct opposite side of the color wheel from your eye color. If you get to matchy-matchy with your clothing it could end up looking outdated or like Halloween make-up. Below is an article I read that explains a little more about wearing and choosing eye make-up.

No you really shouldn't...the make up you wear on your eyes, or on any other part of your face for that matter, should match your tones, like the color of your hair and skin. You shouldn't wear your make up so that people notice it right away. It should look natural, its just to accent the features you already have.

OMG! I have that problem with my sister and it annoys the crap out of me! No you don't wear purple eyeshadow if you wear a purple shirt! You can but try spreading your wings! It's like when girls wear red lipstick when they're wearing a red shirt. Annoying! Look, these are some examples of some colors you can wear with different colors of blouses: black shirt = any color of eyeshadow basically, red shirt = brown, gold, tan, lavender, pink, gray eyeshadow, green shirt = same as red.....basically try any color but no matter what: if you wear dark eyeshadow don't do dark lipstick! You can do light eyeshadow and light lipstick for a natural look. When I wear red blouses during the day I use light purple eyeshadow (not dark) , brown eyeliner and nude/tan lipgloss. At night you can wear dark grey eyeshadow, black eyeliner and nude lipstick. Actually today I'm wearing a pink blouse and I'm wearing a light copper eyeshadow, brown eyeliner and black mascara and light pink lipgloss and the look is great. Venture out....have fun. Good luck!

You dont have to match it all the time. I use blue eye shadow but wear nothing blue and it looked fine. You really dont want to match everything though. Its good to have different colors as long as they work together.

Ummm, I woulden't recommend it.
It may look tacky.
If you need ideas on how to choose your eyeshadow you can match with it your hair color and eye color, yeah, sounds weird.
It doesn't mean though, that if your hair is black, you'll have black shadow, you can try, something diiferent like browns or nuetrals.
Try maybe colors that match your mood, even.
But not your outfit.

no. match your eye makeup to your face... not your clothes!!!
your makeup sits in direct contact with your skin, which is right next to your hair and eyes... you makeup should work with your skintone, hair and eyes... not your clothes!!!

no match your skin and hair first, the only thing I would worry about is not clashing the lipstick with the top. If your wearing a red top, don't wear pink lipstick....

better to make your eyes stand out than have eye shadow being the same color as your clothing...just don't do something that will clash with your outfit...
