It is ok to tip them. I have friends who work there and they prefer to be tipped! They do the same thing as a waiter at a restaurant would do. I usually just give them whatever change I have left, but not much over $1.50.

As a daughter of a former Sonic car hop, I can honestly tell you yes it is OK to tip the car hops.

I never thought to tip car hops until my aunt from Washington D.C. came to Oklahoma and tipped the car hop. I was surprised. Now I do when they are nice. Or when they go fix a messed up order or something like that.

Yes, it is OK to give them a tip. And they can accept it. But they can not ask for it.

Of course. I always tip them a buck minimum. Those gals work hard.

Sonic rocks!

you could if you want to. those car hoppers don't get much in pay. So you will be doing them a big favor by tipping them.

It's ok but personally I don't do it. I wish they were like a regular fast food restaurant. I like their food but I don't like the way it works.

i think it would be okay. my neice used to work at one and she said it helped. she just graduated and is going to college and she said that every bit helps. i think if you just put yourself in their shoes you'd understand. but then again it also depends on the service too.
