We've become a nation contented to accept comfort as a form of nationalism. We believe that we are only beholding to ourselves and have no duty to anyone but ourselves.
No, we are no longer our brother's keeper nor even his brother. It's a 'Two for me, none for you!' world now.

What happened to this country is that following World War II, the group of people who showed up were the greediest SOB's ever birthed. Everything was done for them, everything was given to them, and they still wanted more, and more, and more, and they didn't give a damn about what it cost anyone else to give it to them.
They're not the MTV Generation. They're the Baby Boomers. And the bad thing is, they're all set to retire in the next 5-20 years and they're taking the Social Security system out with them, and they won't give a s**t if it bankrupts the country or that Generations X and Y will have to pay for it.

We were in a depression at that time. So, people would have done anything at the time. Today, the concept is so far out there. Can you honestly say your life has changed significantly since 9/11? Plus, our involvement in WW2 was a direct cause of Pearl Harbor. Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11.

It's not the fault of the citizens as much as it is a fault of:
Wal-Mart
McDonalds
Abercrombie & Fitch
GAP
Fox News, Rupert Murdoch
Banana Republic
Starbucks
The list goes on... American companies are outsourcing all their labor and buying cheap stuff elsewhere and turning Americans into little consumer robots who care more about American Idol than Foreign Policy.
Also, there is no "beginners news" that teaches Americans what the function of Congress is or the difference between a shiite and a suni... so Americans stay dumb because it's difficult for them to interpret what they are hearing in the news... so they go shopping instead.

People don't trust the government anymore. We're not going to have Social Security, they've already raised the retirement age to balance that. Because of that, we have to spend more energy planning for retirement, at least those of us who have a dollar to put away for it. This makes it very hard to support anything abstract whether it's a good cause or not. Support for local charities is down, too. More bankruptsies are from medical bills than any other cause. I guess this is rambling, but it means people have to look after themselves because we don't pull together and look after each other. And we're supposed to look after the rest of the world??

WW2 was a legitimate war in which our country was attacked, Iraq is not.
and don't give me any crap about connecting Iraq to 9-11 because our own government has admitted that Saddam & Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 or Al-queda before we invaded .

You can blame 2 people to start with.
Italian Communist Antonio Gramsci, formed an academic cult around himself in the 1970`s. He was an innovator in Marxist theory.
His ideas focused on acquiring cultural hegemony as a fulcrum to revolutionary change and take over America. A social change through the school systems. Foremost among these means of change were the slow and quiet take over of at first the Universities and then the Media. Gramsci explicitly urged his followers to gain control of the "means of cultural production" the schools. Once in the Universities as "faculty" then they gain control of its hiring and tenure committees. Hiring only those of their common views.
All the while turning young impressionable minds away from love of country and into lovers of socialism. War is bad, patriotism leads to nationalism, Nationalism leads to war which is bad. America is bad. Communism is good, it has just been unlucky to have bad leaders. You should feel guilt as an American and if your white you should really feel guilty. Capitalism is the root of all evil. Corporations enslave the masses.
Once students are taught to loath themselves and to distrust America and all it stands for then they become "useful idiots". Useful idiots to be used by the Left in what ever venue they decide is good for the distruction of American culture.
Herbert Marcuse, Marxis professor at Brandeis, also recommended this route to power in his famous essay "Repressive Tolerance". It recommended also "intolerance of the protagonist and repression of
the status quo". In other words the blacklisting of Professors of
Conservative view points and the hiring of, in their place, only
those of the Left. That is why today 90% of Professors in Higher Education are Left with only 10% on the Right. In the 1960`s it was 60/40. This would be done in the name of equality and
freedom of thought.
The same argument would be used to justify rewriting of all text material and replacing it with a politically correct vocabulary and mind set to indoctrinate students. Teaching through ommission of facts. This also makes it easy to identify those who have been indoctrinated and can be trusted and those who have not. This process was used by Stalin and later by the Red Guard to control the masses and is now an established practice in Communist countries. . Political correctness is the guide that leads to the killing fields.
"What the hell happened to this country ?"
The answer is they did it.
So now the universities are teaching exclussively Left politically correct thought to the future teachers who teach the students the same.
To fight this Propaganda all you have to remember is that since 1945 to 2006 America has brought freedom to France, Austria, Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands 154,547,466 people. Norway, Denmark, Israel 16,413,598. Micronesia, Solomon Is, Marshall Is, Guam 961,885. Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Philippines, Thailand 353,277,342 people. Grenada, Dominican Rep, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Panama 24,857,513. W Germany, E Germany, Poland 120,960,074. Romania, Bulgaria, Hungry, Czech Rp, Slovakia 55,345,156. Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania 7,157,974. Russia, Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia 166,301,465. Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Lebanon 64,132,925 people.
Thats a total of 963,955,398 people, almost 1 billion, free today thanks to the United States of America.
The Communist Left tried to prevent all of it and still does today.

The wealthy, though, kept their money and that is evidenced by 'old money people' today. The rest were conned into giving up all they had - rich get richer and poor get poorer.
The Bush family is part of the 'old money' crowd.
