Thank you, that is what I thought...but when these guys play and get beer and money involved they all get so stupid, I tried to tell them it was split pot and that is what my husband said but then you have that one idiot who thinks he knows it all and said he won becasue his 6 was higher then my husbands 5....

the stakes on this hand were $850.00, and they know the rules, I was in house. I am not even sure why they took as far to fist fight...

It is a split pot as they both have a 10 high straight.

Split becaue you both can use 10 9 8 7 6 . The best 5 card hand wins not the 6 hand cards

The Las Vegas straight [6-card straight] wins...lolz
In hold em poker, you can only select 5 final cards regardless of which one, it can be all board [what if they were 6,7,8,9,10 on the table]. So it's a split unless the one has a flush straight.
A different but interesting situation where a 3 pairs lost to 2 pairs ['cuz of kicker]...but the loser just couldn't understand!

Just out of curiousity what were the stakes that this whole fist fight abrupted??
High stakes: i think they should know the rules to figure that out
Low stakes: is it worth a fist fight over few dollars?
To answer ur question it is a split.. like someone said unless it was in the "house rules" depending on the suit...

Under tv rules it would be a split pot. Based on some house rules, the suit of the 10 would be looked at to be a tiebreaker. Spades, Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs ranking from highest to lowest. If something like this was not discussed, it should be a split pot.

It's a tie. The best 5-card hand either of them can make is 10-9-8-7-6. It makes no difference that someone could make a 6-card straight. You play your best 5 cards.

they both have winning hands top 5 cards play which is 6,7,8,9,10 nothing else counts.
If there was a Jack in one of the players hands that hand would win
telll those kids have the rules before playing
no kicker involved meaning 2 pair the highest 5 th card plays

I'd have to say that the larger straight wins. But then there's also the fact that the #1 hand has a pair....

split pot is the correct answer since you can only play your best 5 cards. There is no 6th card tie breaker
