I've checked the Mt. Rushmore website, and while I can find out why these four presidents were chosen, I can't find anything that explains the order. Perhaps, since it is a sculpture, it was merely an artistic decision and that it was felt it looked better in this order. But I don't know.

NO I don't think so. All of these men are no more important than the other. And birth or presedential order is not it since Roosevelt comes before LIncoln.
